In a traditional visit, however, information is usually delivered through display boards, text, or fixed audio. Visitors receive facts, but they may not discover the relationships between people and places or follow their own curiosity during a limited visit.

Different visitors also expect different experiences. Some want an in-depth history tour, some look for photo locations, families need child-friendly activities, and others prioritize practical information such as dining, restrooms, parking, and hotels. One fixed route cannot serve all of these needs equally well.

SightPlus created Moon Lake Lingjing as an AI guide that can converse, tell stories, recommend routes, play along, and provide services. By reorganizing cultural content, spatial information, and visitor services around each guest, the project shifts the experience from passively listening to actively exploring.

Visitor Journey: One AI Guide Across Moon Lake

Visitors enter the mini-program through WeChat without downloading a standalone app. Lingyue appears as a young scholar, joined by the magpie Shuangshuang, and remains available throughout the trip. Guests can ask questions by text or voice, request nearby recommendations, explore cultural connections, and decide where to go next.

Meet: Turn Commentary into Conversation

“Meet” is the home page and the always-available entry point for conversation with Lingyue. Visitors can ask about an ancient site, request a last-minute photo recommendation, or find somewhere to rest. Stories that were once scattered around the scenic area gradually emerge through questions and answers, helping guests become acquainted with Moon Lake at their own pace.

The home page also links directly to experiences such as Buddies Meet Joyfully, Lovers’ Journey, Recommended Routes, and the Activity Calendar. A visitor can move from a question to a route or activity without leaving the touring flow.

Trace: Walk, Listen, and Discover

The “Trace” page places attractions, the Ten Islets, dining, restrooms, service points, parking, and hotels on an ancient-style map. Selecting a point reveals details or opens navigation, allowing cultural exploration and practical wayfinding to happen in the same interface.

At an attraction, Lingyue provides audio and text commentary. Selected locations also offer “Dialogue with Luminaries,” where visitors can ask historical figures such as Fan Qin and He Zhizhang about what they see on site. The exchange reveals links between a person, a place, and the wider history of Moon Lake, turning an archival name into a responsive companion.

At the He Zhizhang Memorial Temple, for example, a visitor can ask where else He Zhizhang appears around Moon Lake and continue exploring from the answer. Along the way, guests can unlock the Compendium of Luminaries and collect Scholarly Seals.

Personalized Routes: Seven Ways to Explore

To reduce pre-trip planning, Moon Lake Lingjing offers seven themed routes: Scholarly Culture In-Depth Tour, Maritime Silk Road Dialogue Trail, Sweet Theme Route, Fine Breeze and Bright Moon Route, Divine Photo Spot Creative Tour, Relaxed Slow-Pace Check-in Tour, and Joyful Family Outing.

The Sweet Theme Route, for example, links the Moon Altar, the former Huxin Temple site, the Flower-Moon Round Corridor, and the Flower-Fruit Garden Temple into a romantic itinerary. Couples can hear stories, enjoy scenery, take photos, and pause at locations with auspicious meanings while audio commentary and one-tap navigation keep the journey moving naturally.

Recommended Routes does more than place attractions in sequence. Each itinerary uses a narrative thread to reorganize the space, helping visitors quickly find a suitable touring style while encouraging them to discover more of the scenic area.

Social Interaction: A Shared Cultural Game

The “Artful Journey” section turns Moon Lake’s history and culture into lightweight multiplayer experiences. In Qixi Companion · Lovers’ Journey, two visitors team up at seven lakeside landmarks, match lines in a poetry duet, write wishes, and cooperate to build a symbolic bridge. Completed challenges unlock progress, commemorative illustrations, and event benefits.

Buddies Meet Joyfully offers a more open social format. A visitor starts a team, invites a friend or new acquaintance, selects a meeting place, and then explores and completes challenges together. Paired participants can earn double Scholarly Points, giving cultural discovery a shared goal.

From Participation to Rewards

Scholarly Points record each visitor’s exploration. Points are earned through attraction check-ins, conversations with Lingyue, scripted games, and online activities, then converted at a rate of 10 Scholarly Points to one Moon Lake Huizi.

Moon Lake Huizi can be redeemed in the Market for cultural products, scenic-area vouchers, and event benefits such as Qixi wish plaques, river-lantern experiences, and limited-edition fans. Commentary, attraction visits, festival activities, social interaction, and local consumption therefore become parts of one loop: understand Moon Lake, experience Moon Lake, and take home a Moon Lake memory.

Moon Lake Lingjing is supported by several coordinated layers rather than a single isolated feature. Together, they allow cultural knowledge to appear at the right place, answer a visitor’s question, and lead into a relevant route, activity, or service.

Cultural Characters: A New Gateway to Moon Lake

At the Moon Lake Lingjing AI Companion and Qixi Event Promotion Press Conference on August 14, the scenic area introduced Lingyue and Shuangshuang as its exclusive cultural-tourism characters. Trial operation of the mini-program began on August 16.

Both characters draw on Moon Lake’s scholarly heritage while using a youthful visual language. Beyond the mini-program, they can extend into smart visitor services, festival activities, cultural communication, and cultural-product development, giving the scenic area a recognizable gateway for younger audiences.
