EasyAR Mega
EasyAR Mega and EasyAR Sense Now Available on Quest 3/3S
2026/09/25

The EasyAR Sense Unity Plugin has received a new update featuring a Meta XR extension with support for Meta Quest 3 and Meta Quest 3S.

With this update, developers can use EasyAR Mega’s large-space visual positioning capabilities and EasyAR Sense’s image tracking capabilities on Meta Quest 3/3S. This enables the development of richer AR/MR applications in Unity, covering scenarios such as exhibitions, cultural tourism, retail, industrial training, and immersive entertainment.

Meta Quest 3 and Meta Quest 3S can now serve as an important hardware platform for building spatial AR/MR experiences powered by EasyAR.

1. Meta Quest 3/3S Support EasyAR Mega Large-Space Positioning

Traditional AR applications often rely on plane detection, image targets, or device-based motion tracking. When an experience expands to a shopping mall, exhibition hall, theme park, campus, or multi-floor building, local tracking alone may not be sufficient to maintain stable positioning across the entire space.

EasyAR Mega uses end-to-cloud visual positioning technology to match images captured by the device with a prebuilt spatial map. This allows the application to determine the device’s position and orientation in the real-world environment.

With the new Meta XR extension, developers can use EasyAR Mega’s large-space positioning capabilities on Meta Quest 3 and Meta Quest 3S. Virtual characters, navigation routes, digital signs, and interactive content can be placed at fixed locations in the real world and remain aligned as users move through the environment.

This enables users to explore larger physical spaces while virtual content remains spatially anchored to the real world, creating a more stable and immersive AR/MR experience.

2. Meta Quest 3/3S Support EasyAR Sense Image Tracking

In addition to large-space positioning, the update also brings EasyAR Sense image tracking to Meta Quest 3 and Meta Quest 3S.

Image tracking enables applications to recognize and track images in the real world, such as posters, exhibition panels, books, product packaging, brochures, and display boards. Developers can then attach 3D models, videos, animations, or interactive information to those image targets.

For example, in an exhibition or museum, users can look at a display panel through a Quest 3/3S headset to trigger a 3D reconstruction, historical video, or interactive explanation. In retail and marketing scenarios, product packaging or promotional materials can become interactive targets that present additional product information and visual content.

Image tracking is particularly suitable for precise, localized content activation, while EasyAR Mega is designed to establish positioning across a larger physical environment. When used together, the two capabilities provide both global spatial positioning and local image-based interaction.

3. Combining EasyAR Mega and Image Tracking for More Applications

EasyAR Mega and EasyAR Sense image tracking serve different but complementary roles:

  • EasyAR Mega determines the device’s position within a large physical environment;
  • EasyAR Sense image tracking recognizes specific image targets and triggers localized content;
  • Unity manages the scene, models, animations, and interaction logic;
  • Meta Quest 3/3S provides the immersive headset experience.

Together, these capabilities can support more complete AR/MR workflows.

Cultural Tourism and Museum Experiences

After users enter a museum or cultural venue, EasyAR Mega can position the Quest 3/3S within the mapped environment and display navigation or tour content based on the user’s location.

When users approach an exhibit or display panel, EasyAR Sense image tracking can recognize the corresponding image target and trigger 3D reconstructions, historical materials, or interactive explanations.

Exhibitions and Brand Experiences

At trade shows, exhibitions, or brand pop-up spaces, developers can use EasyAR Mega to anchor virtual displays, product information, and interactive installations to specific locations.

Image tracking can then be used with posters, product packaging, brochures, and other marketing materials to trigger detailed product demonstrations or interactive content.

Retail and AR Marketing

In shopping malls, stores, and experience centers, EasyAR Mega can support spatial navigation, store guides, and location-based virtual content.

Image tracking can be connected to products, posters, or promotional materials to provide product demonstrations, interactive instructions, and additional marketing information.

Industrial Training and Equipment Instruction

In industrial and vocational training scenarios, EasyAR Mega can anchor safety instructions, equipment information, and operation guidance to specific locations in a facility.

Image tracking can recognize equipment panels, component images, or operation labels, allowing the application to display detailed animations, assembly instructions, and step-by-step guidance.

Immersive Games and Interactive Experiences

Developers can also use large-space positioning to build exploration-based AR/MR experiences across real venues. Image targets can be used to trigger missions, virtual items, and story content, turning the physical environment into part of the game.

4. Getting Started with Development

Developers can import the latest EasyAR Sense Unity Plugin into a Unity project and add the Meta XR extension according to the project requirements. Applications can then be developed and tested on Meta Quest 3 and Meta Quest 3S.

A typical development workflow may include:

  1. Configure the Meta XR environment required for Meta Quest 3/3S in Unity;
  2. Import the EasyAR Sense Unity Plugin Meta XR extension;
  3. Configure EasyAR Mega or image tracking based on the application requirements;
  4. Place virtual content in the Unity scene according to the real-world environment;
  5. Run and validate the application on Meta Quest 3/3S;
  6. Adjust content placement and interaction logic based on positioning and tracking results.

For large-space projects, developers can first use EasyAR Mega to establish the overall spatial coordinate system, then add image tracking targets in specific areas. This creates an AR/MR experience driven by both large-space positioning and image recognition.

Other Updates

This update also fixes an issue where input extensions could not be used correctly when DeviceOriginType was set to OriginType.External.

In addition, AR Session startup no longer fails when Mega cloud services are disabled in the project configuration.

Start Building with Meta Quest 3/3S

The EasyAR Sense Unity Plugin Meta XR extension now supports Meta Quest 3 and Meta Quest 3S.

Developers can combine EasyAR Mega’s large-space visual positioning with EasyAR Sense image tracking to build AR/MR applications for exhibitions, cultural tourism, retail marketing, industrial training, immersive entertainment, and other spatial computing scenarios.
